Introduction – Overview

This world wide web site describes the Smarter Technology eXtension (STX).

STX system

The Smarter Technology eXtension allows specific applications independent of frequent component changes in the PC-world and guarantees a long life for customized solutions.

STX allways promises the best CPU and graphics performances by using of the most suitable SoM's in durable solutions without changes of the customized baseboard design.

STX Modules

System-on-a-Module

The SoM – System-on-a-Module (STX Module) is a high integrated all-in-one PC system on a module, which integrates all of the common PC functions.

STX Module

All of the System-on-a-Modules contain:

  • Processor
  • System logic / chipset
  • System memory
  • PCI & ISA Bus
  • Graphics adapter
  • VGA graphics interface
  • Digital flat panel graphics interface
  • two USB masters
  • Two E-IDE channels
    – one used on board for internal flash disk
    – other one routed through the STX interface;
  • Super I/O controller with:
    – two serial UARTs routed through the STX interface as a TTL-level signals
    – one IR communication port
    – one bidirectional parallel port
    – keyboard & PS/2 mouse controller
    – floppy disk controller
  • integrated AC'97 sound system digital interface
  • 10/100 Mbit fast ethernet LAN controller, routed through the STX interface to the isolation transformer on the STX baseboard
  • IDE flash disk

STX Interface

The STX Interface separates the sophisticated PCB technology of the embedded PC from the conservative appliance, e.g. the industrial control or multimedia system.
